Tristan M. Smith, A.P.R., of John Hancock, will be discussing

The Value of the TPA

the TOPIC

During this event, Tristan will be articulating the Value an External Compliance Specialist brings to the Plan Sponsor, Advisor, CPA and recordkeeper in the Retirement Plan Marketplace.

How leveraging the TPA

  • Saves the Plan Sponsor time, resources and money
  • Permits the CPA to offer tax-based solutions for their clients
  • Enables the Advisor to build an even more successful practice
  • Allows the Recordkeeper to deliver more robust customized solutions

the SPEAKER

TRISTAN M. SMITH, A.P.R. has over 30 years of experience in the qualified plan and financial services industry with an emphasis on TPA business partner development and client servicing.

Tristan joined John Hancock in 2014 to collaborate with Third Party Administration business owners in her region to increase production and maximize revenue.

She believes it is essential to work with each partner individually to recognize their unique needs and identify the appropriate strategy to drive business through a series of joint marketing and industry training activities. She feels it is equally essential to work with her partner’s internal staff to identify, maximize and increase operational efficiencies as this impacts overall client satisfaction.

Prior to joining John Hancock, Tristan worked as an independent consultant working with retirement specialists in Southern California. She also previously worked at Transamerica overseeing TPA and Client Service in her territory and started her career at Empower as an Internal Pension Service Specialist. This experience has given her extensive understanding of all aspects of retirement plans from multiple perspectives and has made her passionate about the role external compliance experts play in a plans overall success.

Tristan studied Business and Psychology at San Jose State University, is a board member for the Los Angeles Chapter of N.I.P.A., Chairman of N.I.P.A. Nationals TPA Ambassador Committee, is an Accredited Pension Representative (A.P.R.) and has her NASD 6, 63 & 26.

Tristan spends much of her free time enjoying life in Southern California with her husband Alan and three rescue dogs where they enjoy hiking, scuba diving, bike riding, trips to the Central Coast and romps on dog friendly beaches. She volunteers much of her time to community outreach programs such as The Salvation Army, various women’s shelters, transition living homes and Habitat for Humanity. Her recent passion is performing stand-up comedy at local clubs and for senior living homes.

We will be raffling off 2 seats to the 2019 Capital Forum on Pensions (CFOP)!
