Disaster Relief and 5500 Changes

5th Circuit Decision on the Fiduciary Rule

Presentation by Derrin Watson:

Californians have suffered mightily under wildfires and mudslides in the last year.  We will cover the three major categories of retirement plan relief which apply to these disasters, "normal" disaster declaration relief, special IRS hardship rules, and Congressional disaster distribution relief.

Then we will look at the DOL's 777-page proposal to rewrite Form 5500.  Almost every element of the form will be changed, and now with political leadership in place at the DOL, we can expect to see those changes back on the table.  We'll highlight the proposal, showing you the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Our Speaker: S. Derrin Watson, JD, APM
